Fishermans Walk bandstand and pathway

Access
Fisherman's Walk is situated between Fisherman's Avenue and Portman Crescent, Southbourne, Bournemouth, Dorset, UK and links Southbourne Grove shops with Southbourne Overcliffe Drive & the Clifftop. It is a narrow strip of wooded land, with a nature trail, woodland flowers and shrubs, and plenty of wildlife!

The majority of our events take place on or near to the bandstand. This is to the Northern end of the walk, adjacent to Wentworth Avenue.

The walk has a level tarmac path throughout its length, meandering through the trees, with several paved access paths from either side roads along its length. The walk is not fenced, so children should be supervised. It is ideal for pushchairs/wheelchairs, but cycling is not permitted - there are paths/roads on either side for cyclists. The grass under the trees can be muddy in wet weather.

At the Southern end of the walk, next to Southbourne Overcliffe Drive is a sunken ornamental pond with goldfish, reeds & lilies (in summer). This is not fenced so children should be closely supervised.

Facilities
There are a number of benches beside the paths, to sit and rest, or just watch the wildlife. In summer the litterbins are useful if you want to have a picnic on the grass.

Street lights are provided throughout the length of the Walk, and for evening events, additional lighting may be temporally installed.

All events are free, but a charge will be made for food/drink etc. Contributions towards the costs of staging an event will always be gratefully received.

Most events will have amplified sound, but at present there is no loop facility.

All of the events are out door. Please check on the webpage relating to the specific event if the weather has, or is likely to, cause us to cancel the event.

There is no additional heating, so on chilly evenings or for the Winter events, we advise you wrap up warmly! Even Southbourne can get cold at night.
